EVENTS AND COMMUNITY COORDINATOR

Part-time role Fixed Term Contract 12 months

About Pelican Parcels

Pelican Parcels is a Sussex-based charity established in 2018 which aims to ensure that local families and carers have the essentials for their families. The charity is growing at an incredible rate and demand for our services is high. In the first year we supported over 500 children and pregnant mums and by the end of 2023 that number had risen to impacting 7,337 babies, children and their families.  We envisage the demand for our service will continue to grow.

About this role

In this newly created role, Pelican Parcels is looking for someone to coordinate our growing number of events to ensure that we are raising our profile, fundraising effectively and reaching out into the community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who likes working with people in all capacities as it involves liaising with organisations, businesses and groups or individuals. Some of the work will be involved in supporting and working on events run by us or that we are participating in such as challenge events (e.g. marathons, cake bakes, street parties etc), volunteer events (Big Help Out, Open Warehouses, Student stands), partner events (school open mornings.

This is a varied role so you will be someone who loves to multitask; you may be emailing supporters or potential fundraisers, finding volunteers to support events, making action plans, contacting organisations, or attending and speaking to our community be that internally or externally with donors, funders or the public.

You will thrive in this role if you love being organised and working with people, with the ability to be confident “out and about” interacting and influencing and motivating people, or in the office with the team delivering the admin side of the role. Please note that you will need to carry and set-up event materials, have access to transport and ideally have a full, clean driving licence.  We are a very small team, so you will need to have the confidence and willingness to meet with organisations and attend events sometimes on your own.

Importantly, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate they are passionate about wanting to help local children and families living in poverty.

  • Regularly review events attended and/or run with a view to providing recommendations for improvement and assessing new opportunities
  • Assist with administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of our activities

  • Adept at all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Experience of running/delivering engaging events or event fundraising
  • To have initiative and be a creative thinker
  • To be socially adept and enjoy engaging, persuading and influencing
